Soap Nuts are a natural plant product, and they're completely biodegradable. You just throw 3 or 4 in the pouch provided and use that instead of your regular detergent. They last for three or four separate wash cycles, and you just throw them outside - on the ground, in your garden, on the compost pile, whatever - when they're used up! Pretty amazing. And I love the smell of my laundry now that I'm using them, even without buying an essential oil to perfume them.
