I finished the Matinee Coat I was working on, early this morning. I actually finished the knitting at about 0300 or 0400, and then I did the seam sewing at 0800 when the kids woke me up.
I love it! I don't think I am going to block it, because I love the wooly, fuzzy, squishy way it looks unblocked, and I don't want to affect that character. It took just under two balls of Rowan Tapestry yarn, although I'm going to use at least the rest of the second ball, and maybe some of a third, to knit the matching hat. I haven't decided whether to add booties and/or a blanket to make a complete set, or whether to use it for CARE Package or sell it on Etsy to raise money for the charity. It's really lovely, though, and I'm interested to see whether it would fetch any dough. I just love the color variation, especially on the back!
For those interested in the details, this is Plymouth Yarn Design Studio pattern P594, which uses size 4 and 6 (US) needles. I made the 0-3 month size. I did no modifications. As I mentioned previously, the Rowan yarn was purchased at The Yarn Co. in Manhattan in February. I bought the wooden buttons at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival in May and think they go perfectly with the yarn! I'm so excited to use these materials, finally.
Do you like it?
