Didn't accomplish much else today, but I did manage to brave the icy roads this morning to do the weekly deal-shopping at Rite-Aid, CVS, and Walgreens. Fortunately, all three stores are located in a close little triangle near each other, so the gas I used was minimal. I'll post them by transaction again and give you the details, since some of you are interested in that. If not, just skip this post! ;)
Rite-Aid:
The total value of this order, not including tax, would have been $54.08. After sales and coupons (and with tax), my OOP (out-of-pocket) expense was $16.73! {MQ = Manufacturer's Coupon; SQ = Store Coupon) The list includes:
- 10 individual SoyJoy bars (alas, all those boxes from CVS have disappeared into our bellies), normally $1.39 each, on sale for 10/$10, minus $2/10 MQ = 80¢ each
- 2 bags Chex mix, normally $2.99 apiece, on sale for 99¢ each, minus 50¢/2 MQ = 74¢ each
- 3 bottles of Dawn dish liquid, normally $1.99 each, on sale for 88¢ each, minus $2 in MQs = 64¢ total
- 2 boxes Special K w/ Red Berries cereal, normally $4.79/box, on sale for 2/$5, minus $1/2 MQ = $2 each
- 2 boxes Special K cereal bars, nomrally $3.69/box, on sale for 2/$5, minus $1/2 MQ = $2 each
- Sure deodorant, normally $3.29, on sale for $1.99, minus $1 MQ = 99¢
- 2 boxes Cheez-Its White Cheddar, normally $3.99/box, on sale for 2/$3, minus $1 MQ = $1 each
Plus, for doing the Rite-Aid Video Values last month (I'd link you, but you can use Swagbucks and possibly earn 1-5 SBs!), I earned a $5-off-$25 SQ to use at Rite-Aid. I did more again this morning for February and got an SQ for $5/$20 to use next time!
CVS
#1: At CVS, Coke is normally $5.39 for a 12-pack. (I'd have gotten more than 2 of Rob's kind, but that's all they had). It was on sale for 3/$11, which is decent enough, but there's also a deal that when you spend $25 on Coke products, you get $10 back in ECBs (Extra Care Bucks) for your next purchase! So I purchased 7 12-packs at 3/$11 to make my total $25.67. My OOP with tax was $26.31, and I got $10 ECBs back. (Normal OOP would have been $37.73 + tax with no ECBs.)
#2: This transaction, worth $21.83 + tax, cost me 86¢ OOP! A whopping 71¢ of that was for tax. Here's how:
- 3 Renuzit Adjustables (in the Super Odor Killer flavor; I am using all three to get rid of the pet smell that Christine was complaining about last week, and it has done a super job! I can't smell anything now!), regularly $1.99 apiece, on sale for 99¢ each, and I had a Buy 2 Get 1 Free MQ. So 3/$1.98
- 2 Arm & Hammer Total 2-in-1 Dryer Cloths (timely; we just ran out of fabric softener sheets), regularly $4.69 each, on sale for B1G1 (buy one, get one free), plus I had two $1 MQs. So, 2/$2.69
- New Dove Men+Care body wash @ $5.49 - $1 MQ, plus I got back $5.49 in ECBs for trying it, essentially making it a $1 moneymaker!
- CVS .75 oz lotion with aloe, which I needed as a filler item in order to be able to use my $10 ECB from the previous transaction without losing nearly $1 of that money. 99¢, not on sale, but that's just fine because I paid nothing for it and am using it now on Jack's extremely dry and chapped cheeks and hands
#3: Another new Dove Men+Care body wash, at $5.49 - $1 MQ. I forgot to give her the coupon, though, but she took it off the next order for me. It worked out fine, because I needed it there more than here! I had the $5.49 ECB from #2 transaction, making my OOP on this order just 27¢ for tax! Rob really prefers bar soap over body wash, but that's fine because I'll happily use this and smell like a dude. I don't care!
#4: Revlon ColorBurst lipstick in Rose. Normally $8.99 apiece, I paid just 85¢ OOP! It was on sale for $6.99, plus I had a $1MQ and the $5.49 ECB from the Dove bodywash in #3. And it spit out more $3 more in ECBs for #5!
My OOP on this order was $20.37, but it was worth about $51.20 + tax before sales, coupons and ECBs. AND I earned $7 ECBs from this order for next week's shopping trip! Here's how:
- 2 Lady Speed Stick deodorant, normally $3.19 each, on sale for 2/$5.50. I think the MQ was $1/1, but I only had one, so 2/$4.50.
- I found this Revlon Color Stay in Ivory on clearance for 75% off, down to $3.25, saving $9.74. Plus I had $1 MQ. It's not the Revlon make-up I'd planned to purchase (Photo Ready, which would have spit out more ECBs), but it worked out as a fine substitute, especially since I can't find the Jafra make-up I just purchased and need right now!
- 2 SoftSoap antibacterial kitchen soap (what's so special?), regularly $3.29, on sale for $2, minus 35¢ MQ
- Irish Spring body wash, normally $4.99, on sale for $3, minus 50¢ MQ
- SoftSoap pomegranate bodywash, normally $4.99, on sale for $3, minus $1 MQ (the soaps and deodorants spit back $5 ECBs as a complete deal, which is why I bought more than one w/o a MQ)
- Colgate MaxFresh toothpaste, reg. $3.29, on sale for $2.99, spit back $2 ECBs, minus 50¢ MQ
- Hellmann's Mayo, normally $5.99 each (wha?!!), on sale B1G1, minus 75¢ MQ
- Used $3 ECB from #4 to save more than $32!
Walgreens
#1: The single box of Blink Tears was on sale for $7.99, but it was giving back $8 RR (Register Rewards), making it free. Not only that, but I found a bonus double pack, so I got two boxes for better than free after my $2 MQ! Rob has dry eyes, so now he'll keep one in the house and one in his truck and be a happy camper. I paid $5.99 OOP and got back $8 RR for #2.
I kind of messed up on this order. Aside from the fact that I couldn't find three deals I was looking for (one drawback to using this Wags near the CVS is that it's the smallest one in Hampton Roads, so they don't have half the things the other stores have), do yous see the $3 peelie coupon there on the Zicam? Yeah. I forgot to hand it to the cashier. So I'll have to go back tomorrow to (hopefully) get my three bucks back, which will make this a much sweeter deal. Keep that in mind. ;)
- The (2) boxes of Post Shredded Wheat cereal were on sale for $1 each. I had a $2 MQ from Post, making both boxes free!
- The Zicam was on sale for $10, and it spit back $7 RRs. With the $3 peelie I missed, this would be essentially free!
- The LypMoisturizer was $2.99, and it spit back $2 RRs, making it virtually 99¢. I've been using it all day, and I love it! I'm totally addicted to my lippy products, so I go through them like hotcakes. I'm loving all the chappy deals lately!
- The Vitamin Schtick lippy was $1.99, and it spit back $2RRs, making it better than free!
Now I have $11 RRs to use for next week's deals. My OOP on this transaction was $7.03, but it should have been $4.03 after that Zicam peelie. It will be tomorrow. ;) I used the $2 Post coupon and $8 RR from #1 for this deal.
********
So hopefully those of you that want to do some deal-shopping but haven't started yet reading the deal blogs I read can see how I go about getting such great steals on stuff we use every day! My stockpile on toiletries is really growing; I already need a second bin. Now if I could just get a little better at it with food. Some of the deals these women get are outrageous! I'm going to start buying coupons on eBay and elsewhere for those really great deals. Stay tuned for my first big moneymaker (I hope) at Kmart later in the week! Remember to use Swagbucks to make money for searching, too - I'm already up to 37 since I posted, what, yesterday? Just a few more 'til I hit 45 and can cash in for my first $5 Amazon gift card! Search for anything and win SBs!
Have fun shopping.
Fin.
